When the stars twinkle
And the moon is round and bright
Then all the Earth sparkles
With a silvery, misty light.

The elves come out to play
In field and hidden glen
To dance their merry dances
Far from the eyes of men.

The moonlight slips softly
Into places here and there
To catch a casual glance
At elf or fern so fair.

But then the moon goes down
The wee creatures scurry home
Into the brightness of the day
They will rarely dare to roam.
