The Windows of My Soul: The Rose (#124)

The Rose (#124)

We all begin as buds
Unfolding each petal in turn
Until we are fulfilled
We’ve learned all we can learn.

Multilayered consciousness
Each petal loosened slowly
To fill ourselves with knowledge
To drench ourselves with glory.

One petal may be music
Another mighty art
Or the simple pleasure
Of hearing a singing lark.

The individual petal
Is lovely to behold
Yet all taken together
They form the beautiful rose.
