Standing on the Threshold of Sin

In my heart a battle rages
A war that I cannot win
I know I cannot cross
This dangerous line so thin.

I long for the affection of another
But I dare not act on my desire
For I’m bound to the one I love
Yet I cannot stop this raging fire

My baser self says, “do it”
My conscience says, “no way”
Live for the moment. Have fun.
Keep your standards another day.

Am I a man of my word?
Or am I just some kind of fool?
Sacrifice my morals, my life.
Or maintain this lonely, lonely rule?

It’s a battle I cannot win,
Standing on the threshold of sin.
