For my Dad, Carl James Hopper
July 30, 1915 – October 8, 1991

I remember when I was very small
How you teased me constantly
But you were so very proud
Of my talents, my ability.

You glowed when I danced
My acrobatics on the stage
And it was your little girl
Applauded in that play.

It was you who introduced
My hands, though very small
To the grand world of music
The piano, wide and tall.

I remember, Daddy
All the good times we had
And choose to give to God
The unhappy and the sad.

And lest anyone forget
Your great love for me
You chose me to hold your hand
As you slipped away to God
